Careers

The problems are real, the standards are high, and we will tell you the truth.

Most companies hire for output. We hire for judgment. The work here is unusually hard in a specific way: you will build systems that other people will bet land, capital, and outcomes on — which means "it works on my machine" has never once been the point.

What we promise you

  • We will never ask you to compromise your integrity.
  • We optimize for your long-term growth, not merely your output.
  • Good ideas may come from anywhere; evidence outranks seniority.
  • We explain decisions that affect your work or your career.
  • You will leave more capable than you arrived — whether that’s in four years or twenty.

What we ask of you

Pursue reality over ego. Leave every system better than you found it. Document what you learn for people who haven’t met you. Disagree honestly — silence here is not politeness, it is an uncharged battery. Assume good intent until evidence says otherwise.

Proof, not posture

Don’t just read our values — read our engineering. The journal carries field notes on how we actually build, including the mistakes, in the language we actually use.

A note on who should not apply

We are a poor fit if you want the newest frameworks more than the oldest problems; if “it’s probably fine” appears in your vocabulary near production; or if you need the roadmap more than you want to draw it. Honesty is cheaper for both of us at this stage.

Openings

We hire slowly and selectively. If the description above made you lean forward rather than glance at the exit, write to us about a decision you’re proud of — and what you’d do differently now.
